100% UV Protection

Ultra violet light from the invisible light spectrum is divided into three ranges: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C rays. UV-C rays are not considered a threat because they are almost completely blocked by the Earth's ozone layer. Prolonged exposure to UV-A and UV-B radiation, however, can cause significant eye damage ranging from discomfort to long-term vision problems including cataracts. It is very important to realize that even on cloudy days, 80% of harmful UV radiation can still reach your eyes and adequate protection is crucial whenever you go outside.

All Optic Nerve and ONE by Optic Nerve lenses offer 100% UV Protection. They meet or exceed the U.S. Government and FDA ANSI Z80.3 Standards for impact resistance and UV protection. Side note: This includes our clear and lightly tinted lenses which let in more visible light, but still protect your eyes from invisible, harmful UV light.

Polarized Lens Technology

Polarized lenses have an invisible horizontal filter integrated into the lens, which is designed to eliminate reflected light (aka glare). When sunlight reflects off a surface, it becomes concentrated and even more intense. Polarized lenses filter out 99.9% of this reflected, intense glare. Polarization is recommended for bright sun and variable light conditions and the benefits are fully maximized on or around water.

Photochromatic Lens Technology

We all know the hassles of constantly changing light conditions whether on the trail or in the car. Photochromatic technology automatically darkens the lenses in sunny conditions and lightens them in shadowed or cloudy conditions in a matter of seconds. So how exactly does this happen? Photochromatic lenses are made up of trillions of organic molecules that rapidly change structure in the presence of UV light. In bright sunlight, the molecules expand in size, darkening the lenses while in low light conditions the molecules shrink allowing more light to filter through.

Interchangeable Lens Technology

Interchangeable lenses are the classic solution for varying light conditions. Optic Nerve offers interchangeable styles with two lens options and three lens options. Smoke lenses are best for bright sun conditions while copper lenses are best for cloudy lenses and clear lenses are optimal for very dark/nighttime conditions. For lens changing instructions on a particular style, please refer to the style you purchased.

Hydrophobic Lens Coating

All Optic Nerve polarized and premium interchangeable models include a micro thin hydrophobic coating that repels water, dust, and oil to significantly enhance overall performance and durability and to make lens cleaning more efficient.

Anti-Reflective Lens Coating

Light that comes from behind you can bounce off the inside of your shades and reflect back into your eyes. This is why all of our Optic Nerve polarized lenses have an anti-reflective coating on the interior lens surface to eliminate this effect.

Lens Venting

Our lens venting systems on select performance styles allow air flow directly into the area behind the lens. This allows the air to circulate between the eye and the back of the lens which helps reduce fogging.

With a compact silhouette and clean lines, the Blackhawk has a universal appeal and fit.

Comments:
I absolutely love the Blackhawks! I purchased the shiny brown with the brown mirror, and they are awesome! The quality for this price is unbelievable and with a polarized lens as well! I love everything about them especially the mirror color! When you look straight into the mirror it is purple and as you turn the glass to the side the purple fades into a brown! The most unique mirror finish that I own on any sunglass! The polarization really helps to enhance the view especially under low light conditions as well as a bright sunny day! I highly recommend these especially wanting a change from the mainstream colors (Black, Blue, Green)! I hope this review helped out and I am planning on purchasing more pairs of One and Optic Nerve in the future!
